My name is Stef and I’m the mom of 2 energetic young boys. I like watching them play with their toys and I know these are fun and learning tools that my kids enjoy. At the same time my heart feels with joy to see my oldest’s increasing interest in photography nourished by the gift my hubby and I gave him for Christmas (read about it here). I take pride in displaying my son’s art which he creates using the painter kit his godparents gave him for his birthday. He’s always eager to go through the mail because he knows there will be a kids magazine waiting to be read ( birthday gift from my dear friend Marv).
While toys come and go, it’s this kind of gifts that will stay with my kids forever.
I often hear parents complain about the number of toys cluttering their homes. I’m here to help.
I realize that looking for birthday gifts for children can be challenging at times. Not because we don’t have choices, in fact, there is an overwhelmingly abundance of choices when it comes to the selection of toys. We often find ourselves not sure what to get the birthday kid and usually resort to toys. We’re not much aware of alternatives. Alternatives that will be cherished long after the birthday party is over. Alternatives that will enrich the childhood experience. Alternatives that will create lifetime memories as opposed to a few months lifetime of toys. Alternatives that may help our children discover their interests and passions.
You’ll find several lists of non-toy gifts on the internet but what I’m trying to do goes beyond offering an impersonal directory. I’ll be sharing reviews, info on why to choose these gifts, where to find them, how to wrap them (presentation matters) , I’ll offer ideas of presents for different party themes and so on. Let me do the research so you can enjoy the fun part of gifting: seeing the joy on the face of the birthday child when he or she opens the gift.
I hope you enjoy Non-Toy Gifts, find it resourceful and come back to visit often. Good things are worth sharing so….spread the word, please. Make sure to sign up for email updates!
