Taking 3 planes and flying about 12 hours with 2 energetic young kids. An adventure we finally feel brave enough to take on. My hubby and I have decided to take our kids to visit Romania, our home country. It’s been eight years since I moved to the US and this is the first time we’re going back to visit our families.

It’s a good opportunity for us to talk about America and Europe, the different countries we will visit in our vacation, languages, traditions and more. We even threw a few crafts in the mix and started with a simple paper plate American flag.

Step 1: Start by painting the paper plate blue. You can use a paintbrush but a pom pom seems like a more fun alternative, especially to young kids. Let the paper plate dry.

Step 2: Cut out a start from the white cardboard and glue it to the center of the paper plate.

Step 3: Paint half of the wooden clothespins white and the other half red.

Step 4: Clip the painted wooden clothespins around the paper plate’s edge. Make sure to alternate the colors to resemble the red and white flag stripes.
