I used to ask my oldest son to help me in the kitchen. He was a picky eater and I was hoping this might help. It sounded like a good strategy but unfortunately it didn’t seem to work much in our case. He was definitely interested in some of the tasks like whisking or cracking eggs but this would not influence his sense on the food we had cooked together.

On the other hand my youngest has always been a great eater and now that he’s older, he’s  very eager to help me in the kitchen. We particularly love to bake together. It is fun despite the fact that by the end of our baking adventure he is all covered up in flour and needs a bath.

Christmas with kids? Check out these fun craft ideas and lists of gifts.

We look forward to the Christmas baking season and creating beautiful mother-son memories while we bake cookies for our family and friends. I even came up with a darling packing idea. It’s simple and adorable.

You can make them now and have them ready by the time Christmas kicks in. With all the holiday decorating, gift shopping and cookie baking you’ll appreciate to have these beautiful Santa and elf containers handy. All it’s left to do is to fill them with your favorite Christmas cookies and gift them to your grandma, auntie, a good friend or neighbor.

Materials: Rubbermaid TakeAlongs, felt (black, yellow and red), little white pom poms, black button and hot glue

I used the Rubbermaid TakeAlongs for this Christmas gift idea. They come in a limited edition red, green and holiday print and you can find them at Walmart till Christmas Eve. I love that they are freezer safe in case you want to save some of those delicious cookies for later.

How to make the Santa treat gift

Step 1: Cut a strip from the black felt and glue it along the middle of the red container. It doesn’t have to go all the way around the container but just in front.

Step 2: Cut the buckle from yellow felt and glue it on top of the black felt.
