DIY LEGO Valentines in Mini Jars for Kids

These LEGO Valentines in mini jars are great for kids who love to build and create with LEGOs

We don’t visit the LEGO store too often. For one, it’s not close to our place. And then, I’m not a big fan of the LEGO sets, so there is no reason for us to visit the store.

Don’t get me wrong. I love LEGO. But the classic LEGO that encourages creative, open ended play opportunities for kids. That’s why whenever we add a new LEGO set to our collection, we build it once and then I misplace the instructions. The boys are left with no other choice than to use their imagination. They have to come up with their own architectural ideas.

Last time we went to the LEGO store it was before Christmas. We were looking for a gift for a Star Wars LEGO enthusiast. My boys were mesmerized by all the displays and kept running from one to another. Soon requests about Batman and other superhero LEGOs started to flow. We didn’t get any. Instead we left with a generous number of bricks that we handpicked from the Pick a Brick wall. This made everybody happy.

Seeing my kids playing with the bricks made me think they would make beautiful Valentine favors to give to their classmates. I originally placed them in cellophane bags and they looked great. But I think that these LEGO Valentines in mini jars look ever better. Sure, they require a little extra work but it’s worth it.

Step 1: Paint the mason jar lids. You can also spray paint them but keep in mind to do it in a well ventilated area. I personally prefer the good old paint despite the fact that I had to apply several coats.

Step 2: Separate the LEGO bricks by color and place them inside the jars.

Step 3: Use mounting putty to place a LEGO character on top of each jar lid. This way kids can easily remove the LEGO people and play with them.
