The three coloring things included on the Father’s Day paper crown are some that many men like to do on their own or with their sons and daughters: use their tools to fix things around the house, grill and play baseball.

Kids will be able to write their main three reasons why they love their dad – his heart will melt, for sure.

Father’s Day history

In the United States, Father’s Day was not an officially-recognized holiday until 1972.

The campaign for the holiday began years earlier, when Sonora Smart Dodd heard a church sermon on Mother’s Day in 1909 and decided fathers deserved a day as well.

Her father, William Jackson Smart, raised his children alone after the death of his wife, unusual in the 1890s.

Dodd lived to see the establishment of the holiday – she was 90 when President Nixon signed the congressional resolution in 1972.
