Big Sister Craft

Sharing is caring!

Your daughter is about to become a big sister in a few months. This can be really exciting but also challenging for your little one. You will find on the internet several ways you can prepare your child for a smooth transition. Getting her a gift from the baby is one idea and we put together a list of 60+ big sister gift ideas.  But today we’ll try something new: a big sister craft.

Big sister craft

You can make this craft with your daughter or granddaughter before or after she becomes a big sister. It will create a fun opportunity to talk about her new role in the family and prepare her to become a helper.

You can list some of the things she can do before or after the new baby arrives. And ask her how she thinks she could help mom. Maybe she already has some ideas from friends who have younger siblings.

Craft for kids who become older siblings

Our big sister craft is an easy one, like the rest of our collection of 200+ crafts. All you need is colored paper and our template. That’s why it’s perfect for kids as young as preschoolers. They will practice their scissors cutting skills while putting this craft together.

If your daughter is a toddler, you can cut the patterns and let her glue them together. She will also get to draw her face and the baby’s face in the craft.

Craft for big sisters

In case you’re making the craft before the baby arrives and you don’t know what you will have, you can use a neutral color like yellow for the stroller. Otherwise you can use pink for a baby girl or blue for a baby boy. Of course, these are only suggestions. You can let your kid chose her favorite color for the stroller as well as her dress.

For more fun, encourage your child to add more elements to the craft. She can draw a tree, the sun and some clouds or flowers.

How to make a big sister craft

Start by downloading the big sister template and cut out the patterns. Trace them on colored paper of your choice. You can go for a pink stroller if you’re going to have a baby girl, a blue stroller for a baby boy or a neutral color if you don’t know yet what you will have.

Our stroller handle matches the wheels but it can also match the stroller, if you prefer.

Green grass

Tear some green paper and glue it at the bottom of a white cardstock paper. Use several hues of green or just one – it is up to you.

Stroller

Glue the stroller about 1 inch above the green grass.

Wheels

Add the wheels below the stroller, one on each side of the stroller.

Handle

Glue the handle.

Baby head

Now that the stroller is ready, we can add the baby’s head peeping out of the stroller.

Big sister dress

Glue the dress on the right side of the stroller.

Head and shoes

Add the head on top of the dress and the shoes touching the grass.

Big sister and baby

Use a black marker to draw the details like the smiles, eyes, hair, the big sister’s arms and legs.
