Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with this easy to make I Am Lucky Because…headband.
This simple, no-prep writing activity is perfect to make in the classroom for St Patrick. Students can write on their hats three of the reasons they are lucky.
The headband is not only a nice way to incorporate St Patrick’s Day in the classroom and celebrate the holiday but also an opportunity for kids to show gratitude for the people and things they have in their lives.
Of course you can also use the I Am Lucky Because…headband at home with your preschoolers or older kids.
The St Patrick paper crown comes with a colored as well as a black and white template. Kids can color the rainbow with the pot of gold or just print and cut the colored version.

Choose between primary and single lined paper for kids to write the reasons they are lucky.
While this headband is made with St Patrick’s Day in mind, it can actually be used any day of the year. It is one way we could encourage kids to show gratitude.

- Headband template
- White cardstock paper
- Colored pencils (optional)
- Scissors
- Tape
- Black marker
How to make the paper crown
Print the headband on white paper.
Color the rainbow and pot of gold, if using the black and white template.
Use a black marker to write 3 reasons you are lucky.
Tape the two long paper strips to the rainbow strip.
Bend the paper strip into a circle. Wrap the band around the kid’s head to check for fit. Tape the ends together.
