A simple DIY sombrero paper hat for kids to make for Cinco de Mayo or a Spanish school project that focuses on Mexico or Latin America. It can also be a great addition to a fiesta-themed party or Taco Tuesday event.
If you are a teacher looking for Latin American craft ideas to add to your Hispanic Heritage Month arts and crafts collection, make sure to try this easy sombrero paper hat in your classroom. The Mexican headband craft comes with a pre-colored and black and white printable template.
All kids have to do is color (if using the black and white printable option), cut, and tape together the pieces to form the paper hat.
This makes the sombrero paper crown a perfect craft for preschoolers and kindergartners to help them work on their fine motor skills: color between the lines and scissors cutting.
Save our simple Hispanic craft to use at daycare, preschool, classroom, or at home for fiestas or cultural events that highlight Mexican traditions or Latin American cultures. The pre-colored sombrero makes a fast craft, but time is not an issue, I recommend coloring the paper hats for a more personalized look.
