Our Thank You God Pumpkin Craft is a Christian Thanksgiving activity for kids to learn gratitude and faith at home, homeschool, or Sunday School.
Thanksgiving is more than turkey, pie, and family gatherings; it’s a season to pause and reflect on God’s blessings.
For kids, it can sometimes be hard to grasp the deeper meaning of gratitude beyond simply saying “thank you.” That’s where hands-on activities make such a big difference.
Crafts offer a playful, creative way to help kids connect thankfulness with faith in a way they can see and touch.
Our Thank you God pumpkin craft is a simple, faith-based project that combines creativity with a lesson on gratitude. This printable activity invites kids to color, cut, and assemble a cheerful pumpkin pocket filled with blessings like family, love, food, and God’s Word.
Whether you’re a parent looking for a Thanksgiving devotional, a Sunday School teacher planning a seasonal lesson, or a homeschool family seeking meaningful activities, this craft is designed to make gratitude come alive for little ones.
Why Teach Gratitude Through Crafts
Gratitude is a value that grows stronger when it’s practiced regularly, and kids learn best when they can use their hands, hearts, and imagination together.
Crafts offer the perfect bridge between a Bible lesson and everyday application.
When kids cut, color, and glue, they are not only creating something fun, they’re also internalizing the message behind the activity.
Teaching thankfulness through a craft gives kids a tangible reminder of God’s blessings.
For example, when a child places a paper “family” or “Bible” piece inside their pumpkin pocket, they begin to connect the idea of gratitude with the blessings they see in their own life.
Bible verses like 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (“Give thanks in all circumstances…”) and James 1:17 (“Every good and perfect gift is from above…”) become easier for preschoolers, kindergartners and elementary kids to understand when paired with something visual and interactive.
The Thank you God pumpkin craft is designed to be simple, engaging, and meaningful.
Kids create a pumpkin pocket that opens up to hold slips of blessings; printable pieces that include pictures of family, food, Bible, cross, house, and heart.
Kids color each item, cut them out, and place them inside the pumpkin.
