If your kid is a big fan of Captain Underpants and they love either reading the series, or watching the movie or TV series, surprise them with a no-carve Captain Underpants pumpkin this Halloween.
Today I’ll show you how to make a Captain Underpants pumpkin without using any carving tools. All you need is black and white paint and a red piece of fabric for the cape.

We love decorating our pumpkins (check out this amazing list of 21 no-carve pumpkin ideas for kids) and while I started to carve pumpkins with my boys, we also love painted a few pumpkins.

When my kids were young I would exclusively paint our pumpkins. I did it for two reasons.
I didn’t want any sharp tools around my boys and then one year when I did try to carve a pumpkin, one of the tools broke and it almost hit me in the eye. (Side note: make sure you use good quality carving tools).
I didn’t take step by step pictures of this painted Captain Underpants pumpkin but it’s a pretty straight forward process and an easy painting activity.
Kids can easily help paint the underwear and adults can help with the details.

No-carve Captain Underpants pumpkin
Supplies:
- pumpkin
- black and white craft paint
- paintbrush
- red fabric
- black marker
How to make a painted Captain Underpants pumpkin
Use a black marker to draw a straight line that goes around your pumpkin right in the middle.
Paint the bottom half white.
While the white paint dries up, you can use the black marker and outline the eyes, nose and mouth with teeth.
You can either paint the eyes, nose and mouth or continue to use the black marker to finish these details.
Paint the teeth white.
Once the bottom half is dried, use a black marker or black paint for the details.
Cut out a piece of red fabric for the cape.
Once again use the black marker to make a few dots on the cape before you tie it around the pumpkin.
