What better way to show dad how much you love and appreciate him than with a Dad Rocks! card? A great Father’s Day craft that comes with a free printable (find it at the end of the post).
It’s an easy Father’s Day craft idea for kids to make and use as a gift for their dad. Let them use any colors they want and be as creative as they want to be, even if, in the end the rock dad won’t resemble their real dad.
If you want to go beyond a store-bought gift for this Father’s Day and instead create a personalized DIY gift together with your kids this is one that dad will love.
I came across several “Dad Rocks” ideas on Pinterest (where else?). Most of them use big rocks that are colored and have the words “My Dad Rocks” or something similar written on them (these make great paper weights).
Other ideas need pebbles to spell the words on homemade salt dough (these can be used as wall or garden decorations).
I wanted to follow a different direction and instead make use of the handful of river stones I brought home from our vacation to the Smoky Mountains.
You can pair this card with a kid-made gift or a handprint gift made by your little one. Make sure to check out our entire collection of Father’s Day crafts for more ideas.

How to make a Dad rocks! card
Start by gathering your rocks and arranging them in the shape of a person. You will need eight rocks: two big round ones (one for the head and one for the body), four long and thin rocks (two for the legs and two for the arms) and two small ones for the shoes.
Use markers or paint to color the rocks
Print the Father’s Day frames – find them at the end of the article – on white cardstock and cut out the two frames
Glue the rocks onto the cardstock
Happy Father’s Day!
