These paper eggs make a super easy Easter egg craft for preschoolers and older kids.
This is a great Easter craft for little ones who like to color or paint. I glued all our Easter eggs on white paper, added grass at the bottom and a couple of butterflies – but this is optional.
I have included a free Easter egg template with four different patterns, that you can find at the end of this post.
Get your kids together, let them pick their favorite egg design and try this craft as a family. Once you’re done you can put them all on a string and turn it into an Easter banner to hang in a window or on a wall for a fabulous DIY Easter decoration.
If you are a teacher and plan on trying this craft in the classroom with your students, you will appreciate the low prep. The classroom will look so pretty decorated with all these Easter eggs.
In case you want to include the craft in your Easter Sunday School lesson, I would like to suggest to also take a look at this He Is Risen craft or the Easter story spinner – both popular Easter crafts.
We haven’t created many Easter egg crafts until now, except for these bunnies holding eggs craft. But we several to share in the next days, so please come back to see them.
Why do we decorate the Easter eggs?
Decorating Easter eggs is a beloved Easter tradition but history shows that it predates Christianity. The egg, that in many cultures around the world is a symbol of new life, has been associated with festivities celebrating the arrival of spring.
For Christians, the Easter egg symbolizes the resurrection of Jesus.
I remember decorating the eggs with my grandma. I learned from her how to dye Easter eggs with onion skins and I still use this technique with my own family.
As a kid, I would go in our garden and collect small flowers and parley to decorate the eggs. They turned out so beautiful!
