Fall Rake Craft For Kids

Sharing is caring!

This fall rake craft is a great idea to use with preschoolers and kindergartners. An opportunity to work on their scissors cutting skills as well as talk about the four seasons.

Enhance the autumn vocabulary (pumpkin, apple, scarecrow, leaves, rake, hedgehog, squirrel) and review the colors (green leaf, yellow leaf, red leaf, orange leaf brown leaf ).

What makes fall stand out and why we love it so much?

  • Leaves start to change colors. They turn red, yellow, orange and brown.
  • Kids can help parents rake leaves and then jump in leaf piles.
  • We go to apple orchards to pick up apples and enjoy other family activities .
  • We go to pumpkin patches to look for the best pumpkins so we can turn them into Jack’O’Lanterns.
  • Plenty to corn mazes to navigate and see if we can find the way out in record time.
  • Squirrels get busy collecting food before winter arrives.
  • We put on our rain boots and splash into puddles.
  • Halloween and Thanksgiving are awesome holidays to celebrate.
  • Kids go back to school and get to ride the yellow school bus.

Easy fall craft idea for kids

Our fall rake craft comes with a free printable template that you can use at home with your kids or, if you are a teacher, in the classroom with your students. Just print and cut it out.

You can trace the handle on a different color or leave it white. We used yellow paper for the handle, as I think it pops up on the gray background but any other color will work.

As for the leaves, you can use fall leaves, plastic leaves or paper leaves. You can trace leaves on different color construction paper and cut them out or use a leaf punch, like we did.

When I bought the leaf punch online, I didn’t realize it would make such small leaves but they turned out to be just the right size for this craft.

My boys love to use paper punches. My oldest’s favorite one is a snowflake punch he got from Santa many years ago. You can see it used for this four season paper roll tree craft.
