What better gift for a kid to give to his dad on Father’s Day than a handmade one? Our Father’s Day decoration is easy to make, and it can be displayed anywhere in the house or the yard.
This Father’s Day-themed decoration features a few items that will make you think of dad, perfect for engaging preschoolers, kindergartners, and elementary school-aged kids in a creative holiday craft! It is a fun and easy craft idea for kids to make at daycare, in the classroom, or at home.
The Father’s Day decoration craft showcases a # 1 Dad trophy surrounded by hearts and stars. A tie is on one side, and tools are on the other side. A crown with the words “King of the Day” is at the top. Below the illustration, kids can color the word “HAPPY FATHER’S DAY”.
What materials do I need for this craft?
The craft only requires a few supplies: paper, colored pencils, yarn and crepe paper streamers. I used 60lb cardstock paper because I wanted the decoration to be sturdy. Regular printing paper will work, too.
However, if you plan on hanging the decoration outside, in your yard, I would recommend cardstock paper, to make the decor last longer.
Does the craft come with a printable?
Yes, you can purchase the Father’s Day craft printable, print it out, and have the kids color it. The product contains instructions, step-by-step photos, and the template.
Does the printable include options for stepdad and grandpa?
The printable comes with several wording options: dad, stepdad, uncle, grandpa and godfather. Also there is a version with just #1 on the trophy, so kids can write the name themselves.
Can I make the craft in the classroom?
Yes, this Father’s Day decoration craft can be made in the classroom. It could be a great June bulletin board idea or a school hallway decor. It is easy to make with preschoolers, kindergartners, and elementary school-aged kids.
