The Halloween paper plate craft we’re sharing today only includes a few steps.

Step 1: Paint the paper plate

The first step would be to paint the paper plate black. You don’t need to completely cover the paper plate. We didn’t and it still looks great.

Use a paint brush or a sponge brush for the painting.

While you leave the paper plate on the side to dry out completely, you can move on to the next step and color the elements that will later be glued onto the paper plate.

How to avoid this messy step?

Depending on the age of the kids, the painting can be a messy activity. Here are some alternatives:

  • You can squirt paint onto the plate and place it into a plastic bag for a no mess painting experience.
  • Start with a black paper plate.
  • Have kids use a black marker instead of paint.

Step 2: Color the printable

Download the free printable template and have kids color the full moon and the two pumpkins.

You can enter your email address at the end of the article to receive the printable. This way you will also receive our newsletter with more craft ideas for kids.

Step 3: Cut and glue

Kids will practice their scissors cutting and cut out all four elements.

Once the paper plate is completely dry, they can glue the full moon, Jack-O-Lanterns and ghost.
