Paper Cup Spiders

Sharing is caring!

These paper cup spiders are not only an inexpensive Halloween decoration that you can make with your kids but also a fun and easy craft. They are made from paper cups, have colorful googly eyes and pipe cleaner legs. Still, their cutest feature is the tealight candle nose that makes the spiders glow in the dark.

Paper cup spider craft for kids

Our paper cup spiders are part of a Halloween paper cup craft series we started last year. When we created our paper cup black cats the other day, I thought we covered all Halloween characters. But then I realized we haven’t tried spiders. So here we are.

Paper cup spiders - Halloween craft for kids

Though our Halloween craft collection is made up of several witches, Frankenstein, ghosts, Jack-O-Lanterns, bats, vampires and mummies, this is our first spider ever.

Paper cup spiders – variations:

  • Use a white paper or foam cup to make your spider
  • Start with a colorful paper cup if you want to skip the painting part
  • Give your spider a scary or kid-friendly look
  • Use glow in the dark googly eyes for a spooky look

We made three spiders as we wanted to give them several colors and different eyes, from regular to colorful and from small to big.

Several googly eyes

Several small googly eyes for the second spider.

And colorful googly eyes for the third spider.

Use a pencil to poke a little hole in the middle of the cup, below the eyes.

Slide the tea light candle through the hole from the inside.

Pokes at the bottom of the cup

Poke three small holes on each side of the cup.

Slide pipe cleaner

Slide pipe cleaners through the holes at the bottom of the cups.

Fold the ends of the pipe cleaners into a L shape. Fold again the pipe cleaners in half to make the knees.
