If you’re looking for a fun, easy sewing activity for Easter, this paper plate Easter egg craft is just for you! For such a great craft, it’s extremely affordable–it just requires a paper plate, paint, and yarn. If you’re in a pinch to host an Easter craft at home, school, or church, this will do just the trick!
First, print out the free template- find it at the end of the article-, which will help you with the craft. Next, organize all your materials. You’ll need a hole puncher, scissors, yarn, paint, and a paper plate.
Hand the plate over to your child to paint it. You can use a single color, or allow them to get creative and use multiple paints. Just remind them that the center will be cut out, in case they want to spend a lot of time adding fine details. You can always do this step in advance to save time, too.
MORE PAPER PLATE CRAFTS:
Once the paint dries, cut out the egg shape using the template, as well as punch out the holes. Though a child might be able to assist with some of this, for accuracy, it’s best done by an adult.
After the holes are made, it’s time to demonstrate how to weave the yarn in and out of the craft. As you hand it over to your child, give them time to go through each small hole. This is excellent for their fine motor skills! Consider playing light music during this part of the activity if you have a large group.
As the craft is complete, no doubt your child will want to show it off! Not only is this sewing project excellent for fine motor skills, but it also helps with color coordination. This paper plate Easter egg craft is one you’ll want to return to every year!
