Paper plate New Year craft for kids

Today I’m sharing a yarn and paper plate craft that will get little ones excited for the new year. It’s a simple craft that comes with a free template and only a handful of supplies.

I love a good paper plate craft and have come up with sewing activities for all four seasons and several holidays.

Sewing crafts help kids in so many ways, from hand eye coordination to practicing patience.

Our paper plate New Year craft involves scissors cutting, punching holes and threading yarn. The last step requires a plastic yarn needle, that will make the sewing more enjoyable.

It’s a simple craft tool that you may want to add to your craft room and keep it handy. Kids like using it and if you browse through my collection of yarn crafts, you will find so many more ideas you’ll want to try.

New Year Traditions

Does your family have any New Year traditions to bring you luck?

A friend told me once that you hold money in your hand when you enter the new year, you’ll have a wealthy year. My husband and I would do this but not consistently. But other than that we don’t have any other traditions.

I was surprised to read about all these fun New Year traditions around the world. It makes me want to start one with my own family. It is hard to choose, but I really liked the last one, with the wish jar.

Write down a wish, goal or resolution and put them in a jar. Only open the jar next New Year to see if your wish came true.
