Paper plate veggie garden craft with carrot, beet and onion

Our paper plate veggie garden craft is a combination between the carrots in the garden and the flowers in the garden.

We used yarn to create the dirt but if your little one isn’t comfortable yet with sewing or you prefer to keep the craft as simple as possible, you can replace the yarn with a half paper plate that you can paint brown and staple to the other paper plate.

Our craft come with a free veggie template that you can find at the end of the article. Just cut out the veggies and their leaves, trace them on corresponding colored paper and glue them together.

If you like the veggie garden, you may want to give this ocean animal craft a try too. It uses the same combo between a paper plate and yarn.

How to make a paper plate veggie garden craft

painted paper plate

Start by painting half of your paper plate blue. Wait for the paint to dry and paint the other half brown.

holes

Use a hole punch to make holes along the half paper plate rim that is painted brown.

Cut a strand of  brown yarn, thread it through a plastic yarn needle and tie one end to the needle. Tape the other end of the yarn at the back of the paper plate.

You can now start threading the yarn through the holes in the paper plate. You can go through the holes one or several times.

Keep on threading until you reach the end of your yarn. Secure the end of the yarn to the back of the paper plate with tape.

veggies

Download the veggie template (find it at the end of the post), cut out the patterns and trace them on corresponding colored paper.

All the leaves need to be cut out of green paper . Feel free to use one or more green shades.

The carrot is made from orange paper, the beet from red and the onion from beige paper.

Glue the leaves to the back of the veggies.

Now you can plant the veggies in the dirt and harvest them.
