If you’re looking for an easy Dr Seuss craft to go along with one of his popular books, this Sam I Am craft is adorable and very simple. It comes with a template and all kids have to do is cut out the three patterns and glue them together to form Sam I Am.
Green Eggs And Ham has been our favorite Dr Seuss book for a long time. I used to read it quite frequently to my boys, especially as my oldest was a picky eater. Like any other parent I would use any strategies I could to convince my kiddo to try new foods. Did the book help? I don’t know but in time he became less picky.
While this is our first Green Eggs and Ham craft, we have also several Cat in the Hat and Lorax ideas in our Dr Seuss craft collection. This shape Cat in the Hat craft has been our most popular Dr Seuss craft, followed closely by The Lorax.
This Sam I Am craft is great for kindergartners and older kids to make in the classroom for Dr Seuss Day or Reading Month. With just our template, paper, scissors and glue, this craft will easily come together with little or no help from an adult. (depending on the kids age)
Kids will get a chance to practice their fine motor skills by cutting out the templates and gluing them together.
Sam I Am craft

Supplies:
- Sam I Am template
- Craft paper: white, red and yellow
- Colored cardtsock paper (color of your choice) – we used orange
- Scissors
- Glue
HOW TO MAKE THE SAM I AM CRAFT
The Sam I Am template comes with two versions:
1. home template – print 2 patterns on corresponding color and cut out. Cut out the third pattern and trace it on corresponding paper.
2. classroom template – print the pattern directly on colored paper and cut them out.
This way you can easily craft with just one or two kids as well as with a classroom full of students.
STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS FOR HOME CRAFTING
Print the first page of the home template on white paper. Print the second page on red paper. Cut out the head and hat patterns and use as is. Cut out the body pattern, trace it on yellow paper and cut it out.
To make the Sam I Am craft you will need 1 white head, 1 red hat and 1 yellow body.
Start by gluing the head onto the red hat.
Glue the yellow body at the bottom of the orange cardstock paper.
Glue the head on top of the body.
STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS FOR CLASSROOM CRAFTING
Print the classroom template on corresponding colored paper. The head is printed on white paper, the hat on red paper and the body on yellow paper.
To make the Sam I Am craft each student will need 1 white head, 1 red hat and 1 yellow body.
