It was my friend’s little girl’s 3rd birthday party and a cupcake kit seemed like a perfect gift for her. I could have bought a baking kit. There are several adorable choices out there: some of amazing presentation combined with French design (I love not only the Moulin Roty baking kit but all their kits, though they come with a pricey pricetag) and other more affordable, like this Master Chef Junior Baking Kit that puts together real baking tools and recipe cards.

Instead I chose a DIY cupcake kit. Sure, it took me longer than going on Amazon and getting a gift with just one click. But handmade gifts are special. They show that you care and that you put thought and time into creating something unique. Besides, if you are a crafty person, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to unleash your creativity.

I started with a wooden box, the same I used for the baking kit and the nature explorer kit. You can’t really see from the pictures, but I painted the bottom of the box red and the lid white because I wanted it to match the polka dot ribbon.

I love this idea! The apron and the book are great additions. I'm not sure I'd be able to make the apron myself though!
