My son reached out for an apple, picked it up and started nibbling on it. I would have jumped with joy, but I didn’t – we were in a public place. You see, he started off as a VERY picky eater but I’ve always been determined to make it into just a phase. Little by little I successfully managed to introduce new fruits and veggies into his diet and the very in very picky vanished in time. That apple was my golden medal for shifting apples from the no-no list to the favorite list.
Fall is the perfect time to experiment with apples and use them outside snack time. One easy craft is apple printing. You can do it on paper, bags or t-shirts.
Make your own apple printed t-shirt

Materials: apples, white t-shirts (these are the ones I used for this project as well as the American flag tees), fabric paint, paint brush, freezer paper, pencil and iron
Step 1: Cut your apple in half and cover both halves with paint. Use green and red/orange/yellow.
Step 2: Make a 3-apple row in the middle of the tee by pressing the green paint apple at the bottom and the red paint apple on top.
To make it easier for my kids to hold and press the apples, I carved a holder on each apple half.
Step 3: Once the paint is dried, cut out a little leaf from freezer paper and iron it on the stem of the top apple.
Step 4: Paint the leaf green and when the paint has dried, peel the freezer paper off.
