Do I consider myself “World’s Best Mom”? No! Do my kids think of me as “#1 Mom”? Probably not. After all I don’t cook spinach and cheese tortellini (their favorite) every single day, I take their toys away when they fight over them, I make them eat veggies and dress up on their own when I could do it for them…So, no, I’m not world’s best mom, I’m just trying to be the best mom I can be.
Nevertheless I enjoyed crafting these awards with my boys because if there is one day when I dream of becoming “World’s Best Mom” this is Mother’s Day.
Many of my boys’ scribbles end up in the recycling bin but I also keep some, the ones I consider the best. I scan them and make an album at the end of the year. Whenever possible I try to give them a second life and turn them into gifts, Christmas decorations or awards, like these Mother’s Day awards.
DIY Mother’s Day Awards – tutorial
Step 1. Cut one of your kids’ artwork into stripes. Cut out two circles from colorful card stock that will match the colors of the painting.
Step 2. Bring the ends of the stripes together and glue them.
Step 3. Glue the stripes to the back of one of the circles. (optional) You can add a second round of stripes.
Step 4. Write “#1 Mom” or “World’s Best Mom” on the other circle and glue it to the front of the stripes.
Happy Mother’s Day!
