Celebrate mom (mum or grandma) with a beautiful DIY Mother’s Day decoration! Create vibrant decorations using our simple printable template, perfect for classrooms or home activities. Color, cut, and hang.
What’s the best gift a child can give their mom on Mother’s Day? A craft made by them because it will add a personal touch to the day, and mom will surely love it. Our Mother’s Day decoration is easy to make and it can be displayed anywhere in the house or the yard.
This Mother’s Day-themed decoration is colorful and playful, perfect for engaging preschoolers, kindergartners, and elementary school-aged kids in a creative holiday craft! It is a fun and easy craft idea for kids to make at daycare, in the classroom, or at home.
The Mother’s Day decoration craft features a trophy for mom with flowers at the bottom, and hearts and butterflies all over. Below the illustration, kids can color the word “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY”.
What materials do I need for this craft?
The craft only requires a few supplies: paper, colored pencils, yarn and crepe paper streamers. I used 60lb cardstock paper because I wanted the decoration to be sturdy. Regular printing paper will work, too.
However, if you plan on hanging the decoration outside, in your yard, I would recommend cardstock paper, to make the decor last longer.
Does the craft come with a printable?
Yes, you can purchase the Mother’s Day craft printable, print it out, and have the kids color it. The product contains instructions, step-by-step photos and the template.
Could the printable have “mum” instead of “mom” for the UK audience?
The printable comes with several wording options: mom, mum, step mom, stepmum, and grandma. Also there is a version with no words on the trophy, so kids can write it themselves.
Can I make the craft in the classroom?
Yes, this Mother’s Day decoration craft can be made in the classroom. It could be a great May bulletin board idea or a school hallway decor. It is easy to make with preschoolers, kindergartners, and elementary school-aged kids.
