Some crafts are extremely easy and at the same time, they keep kids busy and entertained. This is the case with the Earth Day handprint craft, I’m sharing today. While it requires no prep work, kids will also need minimal adult help. Once you are done with the handprint part, kids can take over the next step and finish the craft at their own pace.
I made this Earth Day craft a few years back when my oldest was a preschooler. I look back at those pictures and my kids look so little. Time flies by so quickly and it’s nice to be able to see crafts they made at certain ages.
About the same time, we have also created this Earth Day handprint art project. I guess my kids were going through a handprint phase. They loved it and I did too. You can check out more of our handprint crafts, if you like.
To go back to out Earth Day handprint craft, it only requires a paper plate and paint. While my kids used a Q-tip to create the ocean, if you’re crafting with a toddler, they can make it with fingerprints.
One of my sons made a lot of blue dots just around his handprint, while his brother covered the entire paper plate.

How to make an Earth Day handprint craft
Start by painting your child’s hand with green paint. You may try and use a paintbrush but I found it’s easier with a sponge brush as it won’t tickle the kid’s hand so much.
Once you have covered your child’d hand completely in green you can press it in the middle of the paper plate.
Squirt some blue paint onto another paper plate or plastic container and with the help of a Q-tip, create the ocean around the handprint.
