A paper flower kit makes a great gift for artsy-crafty girls. The secret to put together a successful paper flower kit is to start with a really good book, one with easy to follow directions and color photos and ” How to make 100 paper flowers” by Maria Noble is such a book. I have never in my life created any paper flowers so I checked out a bunch of books from the library determined to try them myself. “How to make 100 paper flowers” caught my eye from the very beginning with its beautiful photos and interesting projects. I had a hard time deciding what flower to make as they all look just stunning.
How to Make 100 Paper Flowers: Ideas and Instruction for Folding, Cutting, and Simple Sculptures by Maria Noble
The book starts with the materials and tools you’ll need to create the 100 flowers, explaining the different types of paper and offering suggestions for where to buy them. This is where you can look for ideas for other elements for your kit: you can choose anything from scissors (craft or shaped-blade scissors) to several color crepe paper and paint to brush on petals for shading. You can also choose a flower you like and get all the materials and tools for that specific project.
Each project has step-by-step photos besides the written instructions as well as a photo of the final product and templates. A simple detail like being a spiral bound book, makes it easy to have it laid flat for copying the templates onto paper.
This book is for older kids who can trace templates, cut and fold paper and handle a glue gun. Still, there is also an origami flower chapter which can be easily followed by younger kids.
This easy to put together DIY paper flower kit is an amazing gift for both for the novice or the more experienced crafty girls. Enjoy!
