We decorated our wreath with a big paper doily flower but if you don’t have doilies at hand, feel free to replace them with cupcake liners. Or use colored construction paper cut in circles. Check out these 50+ flower crafts for more ideas.

It can be really any flower. You can even use one plastic flower or more. Make flowers to go along the entire paper plate wreath or just one, like us. Really, this Mother’s Day craft leaves room to a lot of creativity and kids can decorate it with any type of flower(s) they want.

How to make a Mother’s Day paper plate wreath

Start by cutting out the middle circle of the paper plate. We used paper edger scissors for a dramatic effect.

Mother's Day banner

Download the Mother’s Day wreath template (find it at the end of the post) on colored paper and cut out the banner. Glue it onto the paper plate, towards the top of the paper plate.

Folded doily

Cut out a small circle from the paper plate circle. Fold one doily in half. Fold again and glue at the bottom. Then fold it the third time and glue again at the bottom.

When you have 8 folded doilies ready, start gluing them onto the small circle.

Flower punches

Use a 2″ flower punch and a 1″ flower punch to make two flowers from different colored paper. Glue the flowers together. Use a circle punch for the flower pistil. Glue the pistil on the flowers. Add the flowers to the middle of the doily flower.

Flower with leaves

Cut out 3 leaves from green paper and glue them to the back of the flower.

Glue the flower at the bottom of the paper plate wreath.
