With its yarn mane and magical look, this colorful paper plate unicorn craft is such a fun activity for kids of all ages.
We have created several paper plate unicorns over the years and they have all been seasonal:
The paper plate unicorn craft I’m sharing today is one to make with preschoolers and older kids any day of the year, no matter the season or holiday.
This unicorn combines two of our favorite supplies: paper plates and yarn.
Yarn crafts give kids the opportunity to work on their fine motor skills. They will get to thread yarn strands through holes in the paper plate and tie the yarn to the paper plate.
The paper plate unicorn craft comes with a free template that you can find at the end of the article. It’s an easy one that you will trace on a paper plate.
For the horn you can use foam or cardstock paper. If you have glittery foam, even better.
The craft leaves a lot of room to creativity. Kids can paint the paper plate any color they want and make a rainbow or one color mane.
We made both our unicorns pink but gave them different manes. One has a long rainbow mane and the other one has a shorter white mane.
You could also add googly eyes, if you like. Our unicorns both have sleepy eyes.
