Bee art and craft ideas are appreciated mainly now with spring upon us. This 3D bee craft creates a really nice effect, making the bee look as if it’s flying over the flowers.
We have created quite a few honey bee crafts over the years, from this paper plate bee to these paper cup bee windsocks.
If you plan on using this bee craft as part of a bee study unit, you may want to also take a look at our bee life cycle activity.
Our bee is part of a 3D insect series, together with this 3D butterfly and this 3D ladybug. It’s really fun to make all these insects look like they are getting ready to land on the flowers underneath them.
A big advantage of this craft is that it only uses paper, scissors, googly eyes and glue. Great for preschoolers and kindergartners who want to practice their scissors cutting skills as well older kids who will enjoy working on this craft.
I have created a printable template with two versions, a home and a classroom version.

HOW TO MAKE A 3D bee CRAFT
The 3D bee template comes with two versions:
1. home template – cut out the patterns and trace them on corresponding colored paper.
2. classroom template – print the pattern directly on colored paper and cut them out.
This way you can easily craft with just one or two kids as well as with a classroom full of students.
STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS FOR HOME CRAFTING
Print the home template and cut out the patterns. Use the body, head, antennae and wing patterns as is. Transfer the stem and leaf patterns on green paper and the flower and pistil patterns on color paper of your choice.
Start by gluing the stems at the bottom of the cardstock paper.
Glue the flowers on top of the stems.
Glue the leaves next to the stems.
Add the pistils in the middle of the flowers.
Glue the body onto the cardstock paper, just above the flowers.
Glue the antennae onto the head.
Add the head on top of the body.
Fold the wings an inch from the inner end.
Glue the wings onto the body, one wing on each side of the body.
Add two googly eyes.
STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS FOR classroom CRAFTING
Print the classroom template on corresponding colored paper. The body and head are printed on yellow paper, the wings and antennae on white paper, the leaves and stems on green paper, and the big flowers, small flowers, and pistils (big and small) on the color of your choice.
Follow the same steps as for home crafting.
