Paper Roll Leprechaun Craft

Sharing is caring!

Ready to celebrate the luckiest day of the year with your kids? We have a lot of fun St Patrick’s Day crafts to share. We’ve started off the season with a paper leprechaun and now we’re making a paper roll leprechaun craft.

Best part of St Patrick’s Day for my kids? Making a leprechaun trap, of course. My oldest has been very determined lately to try and catch the three magical creatures that sneak on us only at night, when we are in bed: Santa, tooth fairy and the leprechaun. He comes up with more and more creative ways to catch them, which makes our job harder as we want to hold on to the magic as long as possible.

This year, we’re building up our excitement over St Patrick’s Day with several easy crafts. Our paper roll leprechaun will enjoy spending time with the St Patrick unicorn or the rainbow butterfly. So many other great ideas in our St Patrick craft collection.

How to make a paper roll leprechaun craft

Start by painting the paper roll orange. Don’t cover it all in orange, though, leave the face out. Leave the paper roll to dry completely.

Leprechaun hat

Place the paper roll on green paper and use it a stencil to create the hat brim. First trace the circle around your paper roll and then trace a larger circle. Cut out the circles and slide the brim through the paper roll. Glue it in place if necessary.

Handprint leprechaun craft

Trace your child’s hand on green paper, cut the handprint out and glue it inside the paper roll as the hat.

Glue the googly eyes onto the face and use the black marker to draw the leprechaun’s mouth.

At the end of our craft, I felt like the leprechaun’s beard was too long so I cut the paper roll in half. If you feel the same way, you can do the cutting at the beginning. This way you can use one paper roll to make two leprechauns.

NOTE: I used green foam for the hat but construction paper or cardstock paper will work too.
