There are so many ways you can upcycle paper rolls into Valentine’s Day crafts. Add heart stickers and create adorable heart mice or turn them into robots.

Material substitutes
In case you don’t have all the materials in the supply list to make this paper roll love bug craft, here are some ideas on what else to use as a replacement:
- googly eyes – draw the eyes with a black marker
- wooden clothespins – pipe cleaner. Make two holes at the top of the paper roll and slide a pipe cleaner through them to make the antennae.
- colored doilies – cut a circle from colored paper or white paper and have kids color or paint before gluing it to the back of the paper roll

How to make Valentine love bugs
Start by painting the paper rolls white and set them aside to dry out completely.
Trace hearts on red paper and cut them out.
Glue the hearts at the bottom of the paper rolls.
Add the googly eyes at the top of the paper rolls.
Use a black marker to draw a smile underneath the eyes.
Glue a colored doily at the back of the paper roll.
Paint two wooden clothespins any color of your choice and once dried, glue matching pom poms at the top of them.
Attach the clothespins as antennae.
