If you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s Day craft for kids to make at home or in the classroom, this Valentine’s Day agamograph will be a huge hit!
What is so mesmerizing about agamographs is that you will get two different pictures that will change depending on the angle you look at your paper.
Kids and adults will enjoy this coloring activity for Valentine’s Day.
What I love about our agamograph template is that it comes with color code instructions. Otherwise agamographs can be a bit intimidating as you can’t figure out easily what the final images will be in order to know what colors to use.
I created my first agamograph for my first book “Paper Crafts for Kids” but this agamograph is inspired by my latest book “Color by Number Animals“. I took two of the characters in the book: the owl and the narwhal, and adjusted them to fit the template.
The owl had already a heart in the book, so it was a perfect fit for the Valentine’s Day agamograph.

For your agamograph to turn out great, it’s important that, when you start folding, you do it exactly on the lines. If you do this with young kids, like preschoolers, you may want to do the folding yourself.

How to make a color by number Valentine animals agamograph
Start by printing the agamograph on white paper. For best results, print it on 60lb cardstock paper. I had mine printed on regular printing paper and it worked fine, too.
Follow the color code at the bottom and color the entire agamograph.
Cut out the agamograph.
Start folding the agamograph along the lines. It is important to do it exactly on the lines. Press well with your finger or fingernail to make a crisp fold in paper or cardstock, depending what you’re using.
Continue folding by using the the accordion technique until you have folded the entire agamograph.
Gently unfold it and move it in different angles to see the two images.
