This fingerprint Christmas plate gift is a fun and easy DIY holiday present that kids can make for their grandparents, babysitter or teachers.
If you’re looking for a handmade present idea that your kids can make, this fingerprint Christmas lights plate is so easy to make and it looks amazing! It only require a few supplies that you can find at your craft store or online.
Because the paint and marker are specially for porcelain and you can’t use them on any other surfaces, you won’t probably get another chance this year to create with them.
So, instead of waiting for next Christmas to make new plate gifts, I would suggest that you plan on creating several fingerprint Christmas plates at once. Or maybe mix it up with fingerprint Christmas mugs and bowls.
Read the instructions to see how you can make them dishwasher safe.
Grandparents would love a kid-made gift and so would aunts, uncles, neighbors or teachers.
We made our Christmas lights plate for our babysitter. I wanted to include a handmade gift to her holiday present this year. She loved it!

How to make a fingerprint Christmas plate
Step 1: Have your child dip his pointer in one color or you can apply paint on their finger with a paintbrush or sponge brush.
Help them push their colored finger on the rim of the plate. This way you will be in control. Otherwise you may end up with fingerprints all over the plate.
(TIP: If you have two kids, one can do the red fingerprints and the other one the green fingerprints)
Step 2: After the red and green paint have dried out completely, use the black marker to trace a line around each fingerprint and make it look like a bulb.
Step 3: Draw a line that goes from one light bulb to another, connecting them into a Christmas light string, that goes around the plate.
Step 4: 24 hours after your have finished your painting you can bake the plate in the oven according to the instructions on the porcelain paint bottle. This step will ensure that your plate is dishwasher safe.
